Special Event

Miradas: Crossing Glances — The Music of Óscar Navarro

We are thrilled to share that La Cañada Sister Cities will host our second Artist-in-Residence Program, where we will be introducing world-renowned Spanish composer and conductor Óscar Navarro. The musical event will take place on November 1, 2025.

Please join us in celebrating this very special collaboration and opportunity by considering a donation at one of the following sponsorship levels:

  • $1,000 Symphony Patron – Four tickets in a special reserved seating area at the concert, recognition at the event and in program.

  • $500 Ensemble Patron – Two event tickets; recognition at the event and in program.

Proceeds will support the programs and mission of LCF Sister Cities, which include expanding unique cultural opportunities to many segments of our larger community. Honorariums will be given to the Pasadena Youth Symphony, the La Cañada High School Choral Music Program and to Óscar Navarro, who is generously donating his time and great talent to our community’s young musicians.

Óscar Navarro began his musical studies at the age of three, specializing in the clarinet. He later studied composition and conducting at the Allegro International Music Academy in Valencia and earned a master’s degree in film composition from the University of Southern California.

His works have been recorded at Capitol Records, Paramount Pictures, and Warner Bros., and performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Italy’s La Scala Theater, Vienna’s Musikverein, Spain’s National Auditorium, and Valencia’s Palau de la Música, among others.

In April 2024, Navarro was commissioned by the Spanish Royal Guard and Royal Household to compose Obertura Rey Felipe VI, dedicated to Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain for the 10th anniversary of their coronation.

He has received awards in the United States, the Netherlands, Singapore, Italy, India, France, and South Africa, including the Hollywood Music in Media Awards. He was also nominated for Best Original Score by the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the film La Mula. Currently, he is a member of the Spanish Film Academy and a voting member of the Grammys.

In October 2024, Navarro began collaborating with La Cañada Flintridge Sister Cities, La Cañada High School Chamber Singers and Concert Choir, and the Pasadena Youth Symphony to bring a unique musical experience to the community of La Cañada Flintridge on November 1, 2025.
