2024: Year in Review
Happy Holidays from LCF Sister Cities!
The busy holiday season is already here and we want to thank you for your continued and generous support of LCF Sister Cities. Because of you, we were able to offer many unique cultural and educational opportunities with the La Cañada Flintridge community this past year.
Here are some of the 2024 highlights and accomplishments of LCF Sister Cities:
• We organized a Junior High school exchange to Spain, which included LCHS 7/8 Principal Jarrett Gold as a chaperone.
• We celebrated the opening of the “Sister Cities Friendship Path” next to Descanso Gardens.
• We enabled eight local artists to exhibit their works at an art gallery in Spain as part of the San Isidro Festival while traveling with Mayor Davitt and a delegation from LCF.
• We were awarded Sister Cities International’s 2024 Innovation in Art and Culture for the “Miradas: Crossing Glances” art project.
• We completed our EIGHTH year of hosting the Sister Cities International Space Academy at JPL, which pairs 40 LCF area high schoolers with 40 high schoolers in Spain for ten weeks of science, business, marketing, presenting and negotiating.
• We sent nine local high school students to Sister Cities International’s Youth Leadership Summit in Washington DC for a program on international diplomacy, led by the U.S. State Department.
And we have even more exciting cultural experiences planned for 2025:
• We will be hosting our second “Artist-in-Residence,” composer and conductor Oscar Navarro, with plans to collaborate with 100 La Cañada High School Choral students and the Pasadena Youth Symphony for a spectacular joint concert for the La Cañada Flintridge Community.
• We will be exchanging DOUBLE the number of junior high school students for a Spanish cultural experience over Spring Break 2025.
• We will be continuing our award-winning International Space Academy program at JPL.
These very special cultural experiences are possible only through our generous members and donors. As we give thanks this season, we are deeply thankful for YOU, our special community and the opportunities to broaden our perspectives.
If you are inspired to make a year-end gift or want more information about our organization, please donate here.
With gratitude,
